Elective: Musical Roots: An Exploration

In this course students will improve their English language skills as they learn about the surprising roots of musical genres, from the tribal rhythms of Africa to classical, jazz, blues, rock ‘n roll, reggae, electronic and Latin music, among others. Students will discover how music resonates and reflects the stories, history, and culture of people and places, and the common threads between different musical genres. Through the course, students will develop a critical knowledge of music and expand the horizons of their musical appreciation.
