June-July 2019: Workshops in English for FIGRI professors!
Participants: Faculty members, from all fields of study, who are interested in practising their English, speaking in public, publishing and using English in academic contexts. Professors with experience teaching in English, as well as those with little or no experience are welcome.
1) Finding your own voice (introduction to Public speaking) with Tizziana Medina Russo.
June 5 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. OR July 15 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. (same workshop)
Finding your voice is a workshop designed to help participants build their confidence and learn new approaches to help them be more effective communicators. This workshop will combine theatre based techniques, (psychodrama) role-plays, voice technique, creativity skills and mindfulness for powerful stage presence and personal development.
2) Academic Writing with Mark Duffy.
July 9 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. OR July 11 8-11 (same workshop)
The idea of this workshop is to share ideas about the growing use of the English language in higher education globally. If you are interested in writing and publishing a paper in English, or if you have recently written an article or are working on one, please bring it along to this hands-on workshop so we can review and edit it together as a group. This workshop is open to anyone who is considering writing a paper for academic publication. We can discuss different formats, and write an abstract about your current research.
