Elective: 20th Century World History

This course, taught once a week, is an examination of the major trends and contemporary movements in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas since 1914 including the two world wars; social and political revolutions; nationalism, imperialism and de-colonization; fascism and communism; the creation of new states; global conflict and peace building. The aim of the course is for students to understand and discuss the major trends of recent history and to assess the impact of them on today’s world.
